WEB 1061 Significant Others: Love in the Time of Covid-19 Part 2: Less straightforward applications for partners
Our popular Significant Others session is back: covering all aspects of applications for spouses, civil, unmarried and same sex partners (excluding financial requirements)
'The best course I have ever attended, brilliant' , 'outstanding' , "informative, lively and important” says the feedback.
Tim Barnden and Barry O'Leary are described as 'particularly helpful tutors', with one participant commenting "I would be happy to attend any sessions conducted by Tim and Barry".
Participants will have a clear understanding of the more difficult issues relevant to making applications by the partners of British and settled people.
We encourage practitioners to come to both parts of the course to get the full overview of partner applications. Please note that you will need to make separate bookings for Part 1 and Part 2 of this course.
Part 1: The basics and Covid update
• Overview of Appendix FM as it relates to partners (excluding the detail on finances)
• ‘Getting hitched’ and genuine & subsisting relationships
• EUSS update and strategies
• Covid Update
Part 2: Less straightforward applications for partners
• Paragraph EX
• Exceptional circumstances
• Article 8 ECHR
• Paragraph 320(11)
• Appeal rights
This part will have a particular focus on partners with an adverse immigration history.
The session will not cover the financial requirements of Appendix FM in detail. The course will not cover other family members.
