Everything you need to know about applying for indefinite leave to remain including family applications, work routes, long residence and the EU settlement scheme.  The course will also cover the Life in the UK test / English language requirement, criminality, the calculation of the period leading to settlement, the definition of continuous residence, the use of discretion and Covid 19 related issues.  Time permitting, we shall also touch on indefinite leave for refugees and those with humanitarian protection and discretionary leave.

Tutor biographies:
Emma is an associate solicitor in the immigration department at Bindmans LLP where she has worked for over ten years. She covers all areas of immigration, asylum and nationality law.  She has particular interest and experience in complex immigration and nationality cases involving families and children including inter-country adoption and she regularly writes court reports on immigration issues in family cases.   Emma qualified as a solicitor in 1995 at Bates, Wells and Braithwaite.  Although she has spent most of her 25 years post qualification experience working in immigration law in private practice Emma has also lectured at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.  She is a volunteer adviser for Rainbow Migration.

Meghan is a senior associate in Pennington Manches Cooper's immigration team. Meghan is experienced in all aspects of immigration and nationality law. She provides in-depth advice to a range of clients including SMEs, large multinationals, high-net-worth individuals, high-profile celebrities, tech firms and entrepreneurs. Meghan has particular knowledge of complex European and UK nationality matters and regularly assists both private and corporate clients with tailored solutions.

In addition to being recognised by Who’s Who Legal and The Legal 500 as an expert in UK corporate immigration, Meghan has also been highlighted in Spear’s 500 as a leading private client adviser. She is an active member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and regularly provides immigration training for HR and recruitment teams and other practitioners.
