About the role and how to apply:

Bhatt Murphy is a civil liberties practice offering specialist advice and representation to those who seek to hold the state to account. We act exclusively on behalf of claimants in litigation against public authorities nationwide. We are also instructed in inquests and inquiries.

We are seeking a solicitor with 3 or more years PQE to join our immigration detention and migrants’ rights team. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic solicitor with a proven track record in the field of migrant rights to run a public and/or private law caseload holding the Home Office and other public authorities (and their private contractors) to account. Candidates will need to demonstrate relevant experience, a strong commitment to publicly funded work, the ability to build a client following and to identify systemic public law issues. For more information about the type of work the team currently does, please refer to our website www.bhattmurphy.co.uk.

The salary will be dependent on experience and in line with our scale. As a guide, our 4-5 year PQE salary is currently £46,300 per annum, rising to £54,700 per annum at 8 years PQE.

Further details, including the person specification and information about how to apply for the vacancy, may be found on our website here.

The closing date for applications is 5.00 pm on Monday 8 March 2021.

Bhatt Murphy is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of society. We particularly encourage applications from BME candidates and candidates with disabilities as these groups are currently underrepresented within our team of solicitors. We are also keen to hear from candidates with lived experience of the immigration system.
