ILPA would like to invite you to join us for the second webinar in our Black Lives Matter series ‘Challenging Racism: power, insult and microaggressions in the workplace’. When conducting our ‘ILPA explores racism in the immigration sector’ survey, time and time again the issue of microaggressions and the subtleties of racism and were brought up by you. With 66% of respondents saying that they did not have the necessary knowledge and skills available to them to adequately address racism when they experienced it first hand we wanted to facilitate a space to discuss these issues.

This session will explore the definition of microagressions, the subtleties of racism, to share experiences and highlight some anecdotal and uncomfortable evidence from our survey results highlighting the prevalence of racism within the immigration sector, and aims to better equip you to have those difficult conversations and challenge racism, no matter how subtle.

Raggi is a human rights barrister, working with asylum seekers at One Pump Court Chambers.

Raggi identifies as a Queer, Britsh Asian woman, living in London. She is committed to helping to create more diverse and inclusive spaces. She also studies Process Work – a brilliant facilitation method for conflict and change, which informs her work.Raggi has a long term history of activism, working around issues of race and gender violence, working with numerous individuals and organisations. She is currently a Board member of Imkaan, a second tier violence against women project – supporting minoritised communities. She regularly runs sessions for different groups on Power and Oppression. She also manages Race Talk- a discussion space on Facebook.
