The Immigration Act 2016 will broaden the power to certify certain human rights claims with the effect that the applicant will only be able to bring an appeal from outside the UK. When the provision comes into force on 01 December 2016, it will extend to a wider group of people the provisions for people facing deportation introduced under the Immigration Act 2014. Both sets of provisions are explained here.
The information sheet was updated on 01 November 2016 to take account of the second commencement order issued by the government on 31 October 2016 which brings the appeals provisions into force on 01 December 2016.
