The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 (Commencement No. 3) Order 2011 SI 2011/1867(C.69)
On 1 September 2011, the law on corporate manslaughter was changed by the commencement of provisions of the Corporate Manslaughter Act effected by SI 2011/1867 such that the death of someone held under (inter alia) immigration or customs powers may be the subject of a corporate manslaughter prosecution. This new provision applies only to England, Wales and Scotland, albeit that the Ministry of Justice Circular 2011/07 (see link below) indicates an intention by the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland that similar provisions be commenced in Northern Ireland in due course.
