As has been the case since the beginning of the pandemic, our Legal Director continues to attend weekly calls with other NGOs, regular items on the agenda at the moment are the use of army barracks to accommodate asylum seekers, inadequate processing of people who arrive via the Channel, and the forthcoming Asylum Bill.
Our Legal Director had a one on one meeting with the Acting Director of Immigration and Protection at UKVI to discuss concerns around the issues with access to legal advice for those who have arrived via the Channel and who are subject to some sort of rapid removals process, the details of which remain unclear. The Legal Director has also met with the Refugee, Asylum and Migration Policy (RAMP) project to update them on these concerns and to advise how MPs may be able to assist.
