HMCTS out of country appeals

Our Legal and Parliamentary Officer attended a meeting hosted by HMCTS on out of country appeals. There was discussion on introducing an earlier Home Office review stage to encourage settlement. However, until there is evidence that an earlier review would be beneficial it was agreed that there would continue to be one Home Office review, which currently takes place once legal representatives have prepared the case. A future workshop would be arranged to canvass how an earlier review might work in practice. For example, if there were an earlier review (a) when should it come and (b) what would the SSHD require to conduct a proper review?
