This bitesize webinar helps practitioners understand the ‘special circumstances’ under which applicants may use s4L to register as British.

Level: Intermediate-Advanced

Description:

In 2022, the British Nationality Act 1981 was amended by s4L, which now allows for the discretionary registration of adults as British citizens, in ‘special circumstances’.

This bitesize webinar helps practitioners advising on British citizenship to understand the ‘special circumstances’ under which applicants may be able to use the new s4L to register as British.

This course aims to share understanding and experience of the new s4L.

This webinar will cover s4L only and not other provisions to register or naturalise as a British citizen.

Audience: Practitioners advising on British citizenship.

Tutors: Diana Baxter, Partner at Wesley Gryk and Adrian Berry, Barrister at Garden Court Chambers

Adrian Berry is a leading barrister at Garden Court Chambers, and expert in British nationality. He is co-author of the upcoming Fransman’s British Nationality Law (4th edition, 2024).

Diana and Adrian co-tutor ILPA’s ‘Nationality law is fun’ course.
