Fees and charging, Immigration and visas Consultation Response Document
Thank you to all those who took part in the consultation on charging principles held between 11 November 2013 and 3 December 2014. All responses have now been reviewed and will help shape our thinking on how we charge for Immigration and visa products and services over the next few years.
It is important that we strike a balance between generating sufficient income to operate the immigration system whilst ensuring the UK remains attractive to economically valuable migrants and tourists. At the centre of this is offering continued customer service excellence whether applying overseas or in the UK or in dealing with staff at the border.
The consultation response document sets out in detail the responses we received to the charging consultation and highlights a number of themes; notably on premium services, the complexity of how fees are presented, the offering of further discounts for particular groups and the use of administrative reviews and new legislation in the future.
Some of these things we can take forward immediately and we have incorporated a number of proposals into the current fees round. Other proposals are more complex and we will consider these over the next 12 months.
