About the role and how to apply:
We are a small charity based in East London providing refuge accommodation and outreach support to Asian women fleeing domestic abuse. We have two vacancies for qualified immigration advisers able to start as soon as possible.
We are recruiting a qualified Immigration Adviser with experience of providing regulated advice at OISC level 3. We shall consider experienced applicants at Level 2 with a willingness to undertake and pass the OISC level 3 qualification. Training will be provided for this.
We are looking for an Asian female adviser that is fluent in a South Asian language (preferably Urdu/ Punjabi) to support women in our refuges to secure their immigration status.
You should have an understanding of the intersectional complexities of domestic abuse faced by women from the South Asian community, and in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by women who are experiencing domestic abuse and have no recourse to public funds, women on spousal visas, including those from the EU.
You will be required to manage a complex caseload and will be part of a small team supporting women holistically on their journey to re-building their lives.
You should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in the legal field and in areas such as immigration law, family law, domestic violence and abuse, welfare benefits and housing, providing legal advice and advocacy to South Asian/ BME women who have experienced domestic abuse.
Fluency in at least one South Asian language is essential (Urdu/ Punjabi preferred)
