Why set up a Direct Debit

We love it when a member selects to pay their annual membership fees by Direct Debit – it save us admin time and money which we can better use in our services to members.

How do I pay by Direct Debit Our provider of Direct Debit services is GoCardless and we will send you the details of how to set it all up – it is a very simple online form.
What is GoCardless GoCardless is our provider of Direct Debit services. It gives us a quick, secure and simple process that asks you for a few details. Once signed up to Direct Debit you can take the hassle out of ILPA membership invoices. Payment is not split monthly, but rather a one off annual fee that is taken directly from your bank. This avoids any unintentional lapsing, and means you will retain access to ILPA resources and benefits all year long. You can cancel at any time.
What will appear on my bank statement? Please be aware that the text ‘GoCardless’ will appear on your bank statement, there will not be a reference to ILPA – just get in touch if you have any questions at all
What date does the payment come out? ILPA membership is paid annually. For existing members, once the payment method is set up, your fees will be taken on your renewal date. For new members, your first year’s fees will be taken once the payment method is set up. and subsequent years’ fees will be taken on the anniversary date of your membership.
Do you send an invoice? No. We will send a reminder email to let you know that payment will soon be taken from your account, but we will not send you an invoice to pay. This avoids confusion and people paying twice.
How can I cancel? You can cancel at any time throughout the year, by simply emailing membership@ilpa.org.uk.
What happens when I cancel my direct debit with you? Once you have notified us that you would like to cancel, we will amend our records for you. Your membership will run until the end of that year. For example, if you paid your direct debit annual fee in June and cancelled in July, your membership would run until June the following year.
