Nichola Carter heads the immigration team at Carter Thomas Solicitors, a firm she founded in 2013. A solicitor with over 20 years experience in the field of immigration law, Nichola advises universities, schools and businesses on a range of sponsor licence related issues and also acts for private clients. 

Nichola is a co-convenor of ILPA’s Yorkshire and North East Working Group. She has been a trustee of ILPA and a co-convenor of its Economic Migration Working Group.

Nichola has taught extensively for ILPA for over 15 years, designed and chairs ILPA’s renowned annual Sponsor Licence Law conference and has been a returning panelist at ILPA’s Conference on Business Immigration in the UK.

Christopher is partner and head of Immigration at Parker Rhodes Hickmotts Solicitors in Rotherham with over twenty years’ experience. He specialises in complex Asylum and Human Rights cases, although he has extensive experience across the whole spectrum of Immigration Law. He is accredited at the highest level of the Law Society’s Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme – Immigration Law Advanced. He has been recognised as a Leading Individual in Immigration Law by the Chambers UK Directory for a number of years, having been praised for his “sharp intellect and inspiring level of knowledge and commitment.”

Christopher is a Law Society Council member and also a member of the Law Society’s Immigration Law Committee. He is co-convenor of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association’s Yorkshire and North East Working Group.

Christopher is an approved assessor for the Law Society’s Immigration & Asylum Accreditation Scheme and has been Scheme Co-ordinator and Chair of the Assessment Board since 2017. 

Christopher was appointed a fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration & Asylum Chamber) in January 2019.

Ish Ahmed is a Director and Senior Immigration Caseworker at Bankfield Heath Solicitors.  Ish has practised immigration  law since 2000 and has over 20 years of experience as a specialist immigration Lawyer.  Ish deals with complex immigration cases and focuses on human rights, litigation and business immigration.  Ish is noted for achieving successful outcomes in the most difficult cases.

Before joining Bankfield Heath Solicitors, Ish was the Head of Office at Refugee and Migrant Justice (Leeds) (formerly Refugee Legal Centre) until its closure in August 2010. 

Ish was called to the Bar in November 2012 and is also a qualified solicitor, senior caseworker and supervisor.

Ish has co-chaired the ILPA Yorkshire and North East Working Group. for a number of years.
