An advantage that a person or a group of people has. It generally tends to be associated with wealth and social class, but in social justice discourse, it refers to the multiple forms of privilege that make certain groups of people’s lives more favourable. In a social hierarchical way, those at the bottom would be classified as “oppressed” and those at the top “privileged”.

Examples of privilege are: White privilege, male privilege, heterosexual privilege, cis-gender privilege, class privilege, able-bodied privilege and thin privilege.
