    Fees and categories of membership

    ILPA membership is available for different categories of practitioner and organisation and depends on years of experience and organisation size. The fee quoted is annual, see terms and conditions.

    Membership for Organisations

    Category A £169 Law Centres
    Local Citizens’ Advice Bureaux
    and not-for-profits** with a turnover of less than £500,000
    Category B £295 Barristers Chambers with 1 – 5 barristers
    OISC regulated organisations with 1 – 5 advisers
    Solicitors Firms with 1 – 5 fee earners
    Alternative Business Structures with 1 – 5 fee earners
    All organisations not listed elsewhere
    Category C £489 Barristers Chambers with 6-25 barristers OISC regulated organisations with 6-25 advisers
    Solicitor firms with 6-25 fee earners
    Alternative Business Structures with 6-25 fee earners
    Not-for-profits** with a turnover of over £500,000
    Category D £599 Barristers Chambers with 26-49 barristers
    OISC regulated organisations with 26-49 advisers
    Solicitor firms with 26-49 fee earners
    Alternative Business Structures with 26-49 fee earners 
    Category D+ £799 Barristers Chambers with over 50 barristers
    OISC regulated organisations with over 50 advisers
    Solicitor firms with over 50 fee earners
    Alternative Business Structures with over 50 fee earners

    Membership for Individuals/Sole Practitioners

    Category P £129 For pupil barristers / trainee solicitors (proof of pupillage, training contract is required)
    Category F £159 All other individuals, including immigration professionals with fewer than 5 years experience (please state where employed/ your interest in joining)
    Category E £179 For practising barristers between 5 and 10 years call
    For practising solicitors with between 5 and 10 years since first entered on the roll of solicitors
    For OISC regulated advisors and CILEX registered advisors registered for between 5 and 10 years

    (Please note those with fewer than 5 years fit Category F)
    Category G £255 For practising barristers over 10 years call
    For practising solicitors with over 10 years post qualification experience
    For OISC regulated advisors and CILEX registered advisors registered for more than 10 years
    Category S £15 For full time students (proof of status is required)
    Category R £90 For retired* members / those unemployed (proof of status is required)
    Category U £79/£49*** For academics / teaching professionals (proof of position is required)
    ***Discounted rate of £49 for applications made before 31 October 2024

    *Retired refers to former members who are NOT employed or self-employed (including working on a consultancy basis) and do not intend to be so engaged at any time in the future. Those not fitting this description should apply for individual membership.
